The Media's Responsibility

Our founding fathers saw the importance that the media was going to have in the United States of America. They knew that the only way to make a democracy work was to have a pubic that was well-informed; for that reason it was a necessity to have freedom of the press. An informed public is the most important part of a democracy, if the public is not informed about major political news or other important occurrences then they would not be able to make an informed vote. In recent times however it seems that the U.S. media has found viewership more important than informing the public. The media has begun reporting about celebrities’ personal lives rather than informing us, the public, about important news that is occurring abroad i.e. the revolution occurring in Iran, or the coup d’état in Honduras. These are events that can have a direct effect on the safety, security, and economy of the United States. Our security is in danger because if the “revolutions” are successful we don’t know whether those new governments are going to be Pro-American or Anti-American, or if they fail will there be genocide or other fallouts? Our Economy is affected because we rely so much on Middle-East oil that any war in Iran will affect gas prices here in the U.S. (just like in the 70’s with Iran, again). For these reasons the media should follow these events instead of reporting on dead pop stars for over two weeks.

Remember: There is a great website that is accepting donations of usb drives in order to allow non regulated internet access in Iran and actually gives out pretty good information on what is being done that website is http://www.haystacknetwork.com/.

The Best Weapon Against Oppression...

Freedom cannot be acheived on the battlefield or with violence. Violence only creates more hatred, and hatred only leads to more oppression. The best weapon against tyranny and oppression is an informed public. Believe it or not there are people in Iran, China, Cuba, Venezuela, and elsewhere that believe that their leaders are in the right! There are actually people that believe that Kim Jong-il is right about everything in North Korea, want to know why? They believe such things because they do not have access to "free" media. By free media I mean, media that is not regulated by the government or any other entity! The truth is can you blame them for trusting in their leaders, because how can you even realize what is wrong if you cannot witness what is right? Since the public does not have access to that media they really do not know what freedom is or how it feels to be free. How can you know how great something is if you haven't experienced it? How can you even know about your rights if you don't even know that they exist? Once people see what they are missing out on, they will join the battle against tyranny and then power will not be held by a single entity, but by the people!
The truth is we can help them gain access to a free media, it is actually in our hands. In the hands of the liberated around the world. We can give people access to free media by getting around internet filters in nations with oppressive governments. This can be done by installing a software package into a usb drive and then handing them out to people in those oppressed nations. The project has actually already begun. First it was used to battle the Chinese Firewalls and now it can be used to battle the firewalls in Iran. There is a great website that is accepting donations of usb drives and actually gives out pretty good information on what is being done that website is http://www.haystacknetwork.com/.

In the words of MLK "let freedom ring" throughout the world!

Also please take some time to read my previous post and comment on both, I don't care if you disagree or agree I appreciate all feedback even bad feedback!

Why We Fight...

Many people may wonder why people all around the world have adopted Iran's Freedom as their cause. Well the truth is we didn't choose Iran, Iran chose us. It just so happened to be that Iran was the straw that broke the camel's back, we had stood back for far too long. Oppression began to surround us, choking us, and making us feel vulnerable to the fact that we may be next. We also understood that we had to create a line in the sand; a line to show tyrants everywhere where we stood and that line was Iran! Far too many of our brothers and sisters had been silenced due to the fact that they had an opposing opinion to that of the government. As freedom-fighters we understood that freedom was not something that we had to even ask for, but were born with. Now we have joined together not to free Iran, but to begin a war(a bloodless war); a war against all oppressors across the world. Even if for some reason we happen to lose the current battle in Iran, which I doubt because we are strong and only growing stronger by the minute, we will not surrender, we will not be silenced, and we will not take failure as an option. Why will we keep on fighting? Well because we understand that this is only the beginning, the first battle among many! Once the people of Iran are free, North Korea, Cuba, China, Venezuela, Rwanda, and many others will be in our sights. I do not know how long it will take for us to succeed, and I do not promise an easy solution but with our will and our hearts, one day all of us will be able to go to Iran and all around the world and be able to hug our newly liberated brothers and sisters.

So join me in this war for freedom and keep on fighting the good fight!
